Fundamentals of Filmmaking I: The Art of Visual Storytelling
CG Foisy makes audio and visual work, and he has a range of influences — Brian Eno, Jill Freedman, Erroll Morris, Siouxsie Sioux, Todd Rundgren, Chris Marker, Wendy Carlos, William Klein. He has sought to develop a style that combines his interests in sonic exploration, retro-futurism, time capsules, decisive moments, uncanny valleys, Gödel sentences, duck-rabbits, and prog-rock troubadouria. His sound design pieces, short films and music compositions have appeared on stage at 92Y, Symphony Space, and CMJ Music Marathon; on screen at the Tribeca Film Festival, SXSW, and DOC NYC. He has done collaborations with the Cinema 16 screening/live performance series and with WFMU radio. He received a B.A. in philosophy from the College of William & Mary, received a graduate fellowship from Duke University before returning to graduate school for an M.F.A. from Hunter College. He has a studio in Brooklyn where he writes and records as Crown the Invisible, and is an affiliated artist with 4Hawk Productions.
