You will find your academic requirements in the drop-down menu under your academics tab in Albert. This is essentially an audit of your progress toward your degree: courses taken, requirements fulfilled, requirements remaining to be fulfilled. Print out a copy of your academic requirements and bring it to your meeting with your advisor.

The Academic Services staff in the Office of Student Affairs is also here to help. We handle the awarding of AP credits, registration changes, minors, second majors, exceptions to academic policies, and anything else related to your academic life. We also work closely with department advisors to to make sure you get the best possible guidance.
Academic Advising at Tisch
You will meet with an academic advisor from your department at least once a semester to discuss course selections for the following term, but you can also schedule additional meetings as questions arise throughout the year. To get the most out of your meeting with your advisor, it’s important to come prepared. Here are some tips:
Take advantage of the course search function in Albert and discover the vast academic riches of NYU. Make a list of interesting courses that would satisfy general education requirements and electives, and bring the list to your meeting with your advisor.
NYU’s global opportunities are plentiful, and we want you to take full advantage of them. We have Tisch-specific programs offered through Tisch Special Programs and other academic programs offered through NYU’s Office of Global Programs. Discover which option suits you best and ask your advisor when is the best time for you to study away.

Answers to Common Questions
To double major in Philosophy (or any department with an approved second major), you must first discuss the requirements of the major with the chair or director of that department. Then complete the double major/minor form (available at your Tisch department). After an advisor from the second department completes the appropriate section of the form, it is submitted to your Tisch department for approval. Once approved, the second major is recorded on your official transcript.
Registration is typically in November for the spring term and in April for the fall term. Registration advising begins a month in advance of the registration period. You will receive notifications regarding registration advising appointments from your department.
Please complete the online cross-school minor form. Your home school and the minor department will be notified about your request to declare the minor. Once approved, your home school (Tisch) will post the minor on your record.
If you are a student from another school at NYU (e.g. CAS, Stern, Gallatin, Steinhardt), you may complete the online internal transfer application. Please note that some departments have portfolio requirements that must go directly to the department. Visit the department's webpage for more about portfolio requirements. Students must be enrolled in the school to which they were originally admitted for one full year before they may transfer.

You should speak to your advisor or an administrator in your department about filling out a leave of absence request. If you are seeking a leave of absence for medical reasons, you must also meet with Todd Pettiford, Director of Student Affairs. You can call him for an appointment at 212-998-1593.
